আঞ্জুমান মফিদুল ইসলাম একটি ইসলামী জনকল্যাণ সংস্থা। প্রধানতঃ বেওয়রিশ মুসলমানগণের লাশ দাফনের উদ্দেশ্য গঠন করা হয়। ১৯০৫ খ্রীস্টাব্দে তৎকালীন নেতৃস্থানীয় মুসলিম সমাজ দরদীগণের সহায়তায় একজন সুরাটবাসী মুসলমান সমাজকর্মী ইব্রাহিম মোহাম্মদ ডুপ্লের উদ্যোগে ভারতের কলকাতায় আঞ্জুমান মফিদুল ইসলামের কার্যক্রম শুরু হয়। প্রথমে কেবল বেওয়ারিশ মুসলমানের লাশ যথাযথ ধর্মীয় প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে দাফনের যথাযথ ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করলেও অচিরেই এই সংস্থাটি নানাবিধ সমাজকল্যাণীয় কর্মকাণ্ড গ্রহণ করতে শুরু করে। ইসলামী মানবতাবাদী ভাবধারার ওপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত এই সংস্থাটি সকল ধর্মের মানুষকে সেবা দিয়ে আসছে।
Anjuman Mufidul Islam is a Bangladeshi welfare organisation specially designed to enrich the livelihood of orphans and the distressed.Serving poorest of the poor for 115 years (Registered Under Societies Registration Act of 1860) Anjuman Mufidul Islam was founded in 1905, in Calcutta, British India, as a voluntary, non-profit and non-political social welfare organization. All the free humanitarian services of Anjuman are available to poor people, irrespective of faith, caste and creed. The burial Service is limited to Muslims only.
Sheikh Ibrahim Mohammed Dupley, a resident of Surat, formed Anjuman Mufidul Islam in Kolkata in 1905. Khawaja Nazimuddin, A. K. Fazlul Huq, Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy successfully directed the activities of this organisation as its president. After the Partition of India in 1947, the Anjuman’s chief administrative officer SM Salahuddin along with officials such as Abdul Haque Faridi managed to set up a branch in SK Das Road, Gandaria, Dhaka in September 1947. Faridi was made the first president of Dhaka’s Anjuman serving from 1947 to 1949. In 1950, the Anjuman became an independent organisation.
