DGHS (Bengali: স্বাস্থ্য অধিদপ্তর) is a Bangladesh government Directorates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare responsible for health services in Bangladesh
DGHS was established as directorate in 1978. It was upgraded to Directorate General in 1980
Office is led by the Director General (DG). He is assisted by two Additional Director Generals(ADG), directors, line directors, deputy directors, other officers & supporting staffs.[4] Prof. Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam is appointed as director general on 23 July 2020

The DGHS is one of the agencies of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Bangladesh. The main functions of this agency are the implementation of different health programs, health management, planning & execution of different policies through administration. In addition to this, DGHS provides technical assistance to the ministry.
The DGHS was established as Directorate in 1958 during the Pakistani era. In 1980, it has been upgraded to Directorate General. The head of DGHS is Director General. He is assisted by two Additional Director General. Different line directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, medical officers, other officers & supporting staffs also help him to execute all responsibilities. In all medical college hospitals and divisional offices, directors are responsible for all kind of administrative functions.
In all medical colleges, principals are available for academic purposes. In district level, Civil Surgeon and in Upazila level, Upazila Health & Family Planning Officer (UHFPO) is the facility head. The Director of Management Information System (MIS) is Prof. Dr. Mijanur Rahman
