    Vacancy Announcement for Support to Development Program

    Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS) is an activist women organization, working since 1986 to establish equality for women from the family to the state level, since its inception the organization has been trying to create a platform where women and other marginalized groups will raise their voices and claim their entitlements for social, economic empowerment.

    BNPS is implementing a programme titled “Resilient through Economic Empowerment, Climate Adaptation, Leadership and Learning – REECALL 2021” under “Support to Development Project” in Mohonganj at Netrakona district funded by Oxfam in Bangladesh.

    In Haor areas, safe water supply is a big concern because of some critical problems especially on higher level of iron and arsenic contamination in tubewell water. In such a crucial situation of safe water supply in Haor area, Oxfam in Bangladesh designed a mini Arsenic-Iron Removal Unit (AIRU) and piloted in two haor districts to combat with the problems and to ensure safe water supply to the community. At this stage of piloting of the option for around three years, it is important to explore/study/understand its’ effectiveness and efficiency to step for its’ promotion as a replicable model. The study has already been started since 26 January 2020 but stopped from 25 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. But now it is the time to resume remaining planned work as the activities already started limitedly through necessary precautions. To conduct the remaining study related works, a volunteer will be recruited who will responsible for field level activities and some desk works.

    • Consultation of different level of participants and stakeholders,
    • Capturing user perception and document impact stories with photos
    • Conducting WQT&M through field test kits & laboratories and preparing report,
    • Performance monitoring of the Unit
    • Community perception on water quality, aesthetic views, effectiveness, use, access, operation and maintenance of the AIRU
    • developing different types of formats,
    • preparing draft study report.

    Educational Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering / Honors in Chemistry (E)
    Experience Requirements
    • Excellent writing skill in English & basic photography skill (D)
    • Young, motivated and interested to travel frequently (E)
    • Experience in communication outreach and writing especially case study/story writing (D)
    Job Location Netrakona and Sunamgonj
    Salary & Benefits A motivation allowance of BDT 1,000/day will be paid to the volunteer during the period of assignment based on actual working days
