The Ministry of Food is the government ministry of Bangladesh responsible for National Food Policy.

The Ministry of Food was originally the Ministry of Food & Civil Supplies in 1971 after the Independence of Bangladesh. It was renamed to Ministry of Food & Relief and then renamed again as the Ministry of Food & Disaster Management. In 2012 the government of Bangladesh reorganized it as the Ministry of Food and another separate ministry was created called the Ministry of Disaster Management.

The Bengal Civil Supplies Department was established in British India in 1943 to deal with the severe famine in undivided Bengal during World War II and to provide food supplies. This department used to introduce statutory rationing system in major cities and quickly expanded the rationing system. The abolition of the Civil Supplies Department in 1955 after the partition of India had an adverse effect. To deal with the situation, the Food Department was set up in 1958 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food in the form of Civil Supplies. After the independence of Bangladesh, the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies was established in 1972. Later, the Ministry of Food, Ministry of Food and Relief, Ministry of Food and Disaster Management,Under the Ministry of Food and Disaster Management, the Department of Food, etc. began to operate.
