Rabindra University Bangladesh History & Address

Rabindra University, Bangladesh (RUB) is a public institution established in 2017, situated in Shahjadpur, Sirajganj District. The university is named after the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, reflecting its dedication to his legacy.

Academic Structure:

RUB comprises four faculties, each offering specialized departments:

• Faculty of Arts: Bangla Department
• Faculty of Social Science: Economics and Sociology Departments
• Faculty of Business Studies: Management Studies Department
• Faculty of Drama and Music: Music Department

Each department offers a limited number of seats, ensuring focused attention and quality education.

Leadership:

As of September 2024, Dr. S. M. Hassan Talukder serves as the Vice-Chancellor, with Dr. Sumon Kanti Barua as the Pro-Vice Chancellor.

Campus and Facilities:

The university’s permanent campus is under development approximately 7 km west of Shahjadpur Upazila town. Currently, academic activities are conducted on temporary campuses within three colleges in Shahjadpur.

Ranking and Recognition:

In the 2024 rankings, RUB is positioned at 90th place among universities in Bangladesh

২০১৭ সালে দেশের ৪০তম সরকারি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় হিসেবে যাত্রা শুরু করে রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, বাংলাদেশ। সিরাজগঞ্জের শাহজাদপুর উপজেলা শহর হতে প্রায় ৭ কিলোমিটার পশ্চিমে এটির স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাস নির্মিত হবে। বর্তমানে শাহজাদপুর শহরের তিনটি কলেজে অস্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাসে শিক্ষা কার্যক্রম চালু রয়েছে। এ বিশ্ববিদ্যায়ের প্রথম ভিসি হিসেবে দায়িত্ব নেন ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা বিভাগের অধ্যাপক ড. বিশ্বজিৎ ঘোষ।
