    National Sports Council

    The National Sports Council (NSC) is the national overseer of the control authorities of 41 different sports in Bangladesh. It is responsible to the Bangladesh Ministry of Youth and Sports and is based in Purana Paltan, Dhaka

    After the Bangladesh Liberation War, the Bangladesh Sports Control Board was formed in 1972. In 1974 it became the National Sports Council

    Prior to independence, Bangladesh was governed by the then East Pakistan Sports through EPSF (East Pakistan Sports Federation), DSC (Dhaka Stadium Committee) and NSTCC (National Sports Training and Coaching Center). After independence, the Ministry of Education and Culture formed BKNS (Bangladesh Sports Regulatory Authority) by issuing a circular on 08 February 1972. The BKNS is headed by a 16-member committee headed by the then Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Md. Yusuf Ali. The committee later formed an ad hoc committee to merge the NSTCC, EPSF and DCC. The purpose of uniting the three organizations was to revive the sports of war-torn Bangladesh, to form federations in different disciplines, and to create opportunities for sports including the acquisition of international recognition. July 30, In 1974, the three organizations merging bill was passed in the Jatiya Sangsad, which was renamed as Bangladesh Sports Council Act, 1974 and BSc (Bangladesh Sports Council) was changed to B.Sc. The NSCB (National Sports Control Board) was formed in 1986 by amending the Bangladesh Sports Council Act. In 1979, a bill was introduced in Parliament to amend the Act again. In 1991, the government changed the name of NSCB to NSC (National Sports Council) through Gazette. The name of which is Bangladesh Sports Council Act ‘1974 and BSc (Bangladesh Sports Council) i.e. BKNS was changed to BSc. The NSCB (National Sports Control Board) was formed in 1986 by amending the Bangladesh Sports Council Act. In 1979, a bill was introduced in Parliament to amend the Act again. In 1991, the government changed the name of NSCB to NSC (National Sports Council) through Gazette.
