    Jalalabad Gas Transmission and Distribution System Limited (JGTDSL) is a state-owned gas distribution company operating in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh. Established on December 1, 1986, under the Companies Act, the company is a subsidiary of Petrobangla, operating under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

      He joined JGTDSL in 1991 as an assistant engineer after obtaining a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from BUET. He has held various significant positions within the company and assumed the role of Managing Director in 2023.

    Financial Overview

    • Revenue (FY 2023–24): Tk 7,331.37 crore from the sale of 3,917.819 million cubic meters (MMCM) of gas. The company contributed Tk 185.82 crore to the national exchequer through debt service liabilities, dividends, income tax, and import duties.

    • Revenue (FY 2022–23): Tk 5,231.50 crore, including Tk 4,974.68 crore from sales and Tk 256.82 crore from other income. The company earned a profit of Tk 229.73 crore before tax and deposited Tk 125.41 crore to the national exchequer.

    Services and Innovations

    • Prepaid Gas Metering: JGTDSL has installed 50,000 prepaid gas meters in Sylhet, enhancing billing transparency and customer control over gas usage. A dedicated data and recovery center was inaugurated in February 2025 to manage these meters.

    • Mobile Gas Leak Detection: In August 2021, JGTDSL introduced a mobile gas leak detection system in collaboration with Singapore-based ZICOM Equipment Pte. Ltd. This initiative aims to prevent gas wastage and ensure safety by detecting leaks in distribution lines.

    • Digital Bill Payments: The company has partnered with BRAC Bank and bKash to facilitate online prepaid gas bill payments. Customers can now pay bills through the bKash app, enhancing convenience for residents in Sylhet City Corporation and adjacent areas

    Legal Matters

    • International Arbitration: In September 2023, an international arbitration tribunal ruled that JGTDSL must refund Tk 266 crore to LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited. The tribunal found that the cement manufacturer was overcharged beyond the agreed-upon ceiling price in the gas sales agreement.
