    Bangladesh Health Watch (BHW) was established in 2006 as a multi-stakeholder civil society body dedicated to improve the health system in Bangladesh through evidence based critical review of policies and programmes, and recommend appropriate actions for change, especially to have a positive impact on social exclusion and inequity. Recently, BHW has launched a 37 months project with the goal to strengthen the healthcare system so that is more responsive to people’s needs and demands. It is expected that the project will create ‘a more responsive health care system that delivers better quality, more transparent and equitable health care for all being informed by people’s participation and voice’.

    BHW is now recruiting for the following positions to set up a full- fledged Secretariat to implement the regular activities of BHW and implement project activities revolving around research, high level advocacy with policy makers and programme planners, development partners and civil society partners.     Position: Vice Principal, Midwifery Education Programme

    Duty Station: Dhaka

    Key responsibilities:
    The main responsibilities of the RA are as follows:

    • To oversee and support the Instructor in imparting the Diploma course, provide inputs based on observations to faculty development plans;
    • To update the modules as required, impart teaching, support the Instructors, and train them to acquire both pedagogical and clinical skills;
    • To facilitate mentoring sessions of the academic sites, provide inputs to the mentors to develop the succession plans;
    • To provide on-the-job training and identify needs for capacity building in individual teaching staff and midwives.
    • To support students through instructors to overcome individual crisis, arrange special support to students with special needs;
    • To ensure that all activities in the academic sites follow the academic calendar with quality,
    • Monitor class conduction to ensure strict adherence to the academic calendar and fulfillment of set standards and conduct classes as well.
    • Maintain and prepare the skill labs for specific session demonstrations and teach students based on the lesson plan and the academic calendar;
    • Develop individual’s clinical skills & competency as a part of continuous development and conduct classroom teaching related to simulation practice/skills;
    • Conduct assessment of student’s performance and communicate with fellow faculty regarding unsatisfactory or unsafe performance of the students;
    • Develop modular exam questionnaires including OSCE guideline in close collaboration with fellow faculty;
    • Prepare result sheets of each assessment by the following day without any failure.
    • Maintain communication with team at HUB for academic purposes maintaining proper communication channel keeping supervisor in loop.
    • Maintain communication with BNMC regarding student affairs and prepare related documents.
    • Orient students to the clinical sites, interactions with clients and identify gaps in service delivery, evaluate students’ competencies during service delivery;
    • Responsible for effective implementation of the project along with satisfactory community and clinical placement of students and graduates’ midwives for internship;
      Represent HUB to the national level technical meetings and provide meaningful input;
    • Work with Director General Nursing and Midwifery, Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council, Obs-Gynae Society of Bangladesh (OGSB) & BMS etc.
    • Carry out any other activities as and when assigned by the supervisor.

    Educational Qualification:

    • MSc & BSc in Nursing from a reputed Nursing College. Additional degree in Midwifery will get priority.

    Other requirements:

    • Only females are allowed to apply;
    • At least 5 years of teaching experience in any reputed Nursing College/Institution;
    • Ability to organize work under pressure & set priorities;
    • Good communication & interpersonal skills;
    • Computer literacy is essential.

    Work Station: Based in Dhaka, but travel to the field sites during data collection

    Salary:Attractive salary package will be offered. In addition to attractive salary packages, long-term carrier path will be planned and offered to truly deserving candidates.

    Initially, the RA will be offered a 3-month contract for the described responsibilities. Afterwards, the RA may be recruited for longer term conditional on good performance and may continue working under the supervision of PI.
