Bangladesh Bridge Authority (BBA) is a government agency under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges in Bangladesh. It is primarily responsible for the construction, operation, maintenance, and management of major bridges, flyovers, overpasses, and other related infrastructure projects across the country. The BBA was established to ensure the development and sustainability of Bangladesh’s bridge network to improve road connectivity and transportation across the country, especially in the context of the growing demand for improved infrastructure due to population growth and urbanization.

Key Responsibilities of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority:

1. Planning and Design: The BBA is involved in planning, designing, and constructing major bridges and elevated expressways across Bangladesh. These projects often involve modern engineering and are crucial for connecting different regions of the country.

The construction of this bridge has been a major milestone in Bangladesh’s infrastructure development.

2. Bangabandhu Bridge: Officially known as the Jamuna Multi-purpose Bridge, it is another iconic bridge connecting the eastern and western parts of Bangladesh, facilitating traffic over the Jamuna River.

3. Kanchpur, Meghna, and Gumti Bridges: These bridges, part of the Eastern Corridor of the country’s road network, are also managed by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority.
