    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) is looking for self-motivated, competent & experienced officials, who are willing to build career with one of the most prestigious professional Institutes of Bangladesh in the following positions:

    Position: Additional Director, Head of Financial Report Monitoring and Practice Review Department, Division: Technical & Regulatory, No. of Post: 01

    Functions: Monitor, supervise and develop the FRM&PR department as the departmental head, work in the area of financial report monitoring and audit practice review in compliance with IFRS, ISA, quality control standards and other relevant standards, rules and regulations and any other activity as per the direction of the higher authority.

    Required Qualification: Must be a Chartered Accountant from ICAB with BBA/MBA in Finance, Accounting or Economics from any reputed public/private university. Having minimum five (05) years of working experience in Audit. Having expertise in the application of audit software will be an added qualification. Good interpersonal skill, IT skill and competency of written communication in both English and Bengali are essential. Age should be minimum 30 years.

    Position: Position: Senior Deputy Director, Department: Learning, Division: Education & Students’ Affairs, No. of Post: 01

    Functions: Prepare, review and update study materials and syllabus of ICAB for each level of ICAB examinations from time to time, work with the Board of Studies and related committees of Education and Students’ Affairs Division for developing new and innovative methods of education, communicate and maintain a close liaison with the Central Bank, SEC, DSE/CSE, RJSC, NBR, banks and financial institutions, the ICAEW, CA Australia, IFAC, IASB, CAPA, SAFA, Globally allied Professional Bodies and Organizations to go in line with their guidelines, educational systems and incorporate the relevant study materials, compare and analyze the syllabus of ICAB with other national and international institutes for potential membership agreement, take the feedback from the teachers and students related to syllabus and curriculum and incorporate it, implement the updated syllabus accordingly, ensure availability of suggested answers of ICAB examination questions on a timely manner, recommend for effective learning and training activities, take proactive role in organizing seminars, workshops and training for ICAB members, panel teachers and others, assist ICAB management in procuring professional books and study materials, organize the types of the classes (online or physical), maintain communication with renowned public and private universities and colleges of Bangladesh for exemption and research related purposes and for attracting meritorious students, ensure effective functioning of ICAB academic campus, carry out other duties commensurate with the post that required by the divisional head and any other activity as per the direction of the higher authority.

    Required Qualifications: Must be a qualified Chartered Accountant from ICAB and/or Ph.D. holder specialized in Accounting/Finance or related subjects with teaching experience of minimum 10 years in foreign/local reputed universities with substantial exposure in Education and Research, having minimum five (05) years of leadership in renowned institutions, having expertise in research activities in university level, proven interpersonal and communication skills, sound IT knowledge, ability to work in a deadline driven organizations, working experience with International Organization(s) will be considered as an added qualification and competency of written and spoken communication in both English and Bengali are essential.

    Functions: Responsible as SAFA Nodal Officer to communicate, liaison and coordinate activities of the Institute with different accounting bodies like South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA), Confederation of Asian & Pacific Accountants (CAPA), International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) etc., actively work as the Member Secretary of few non-standing Committees like International and Regional Affairs Committee (IRAC), Regional Committee and Overseas Management Chapters Committee (RCOMCC) and Review Committee for Published Accounts & Reports (RCPAR) of ICAB, assist Operation Division for organizing ICAB Best Presented Annual Reports Award and SAFA, BPA Award related activities, responsible to coordinate overseas travels of ICAB official delegates for their participation in SAFA, CAPA, IFAC, IFRS Meetings, Conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Trainings, etc. and any other activity as per the direction of the higher authority.

    Required Qualification: BBA/MBA or post graduate degree in International Relations from the University of Dhaka will be given preference. Having relevant experience is preferable. Good interpersonal & IT skills, team-leading capabilities and competency of written and spoken communication in both English and Bengali are essential.

    Position: Receptionist cum PABX Operator, Department: Administration, Division: Operations, No. of Post: 01

    Functions: Greet and welcome the ICAB members and guests, answer to the queries received from members, students, national and international organizations and others, attain all incoming calls and redirect them or keep messages and communicate to the concerned official accordingly, communicate all members regarding meeting of ICAB’s standing & other committees including sub-committees, call the concerned members or others for any special program, provide the relevant information to the designated desk, assist the members with conference, seminar and training programs and any other activity as per the direction of the higher authority.

    Required Qualification: BBA or graduate degree in any discipline from any reputed public/private university having 2 years’ experience in front desk or administration, good interpersonal & IT skills, team leading capabilities and competency of written communication (English and Bengali) are essential. The candidate must be male and fluent in English.

    ICAB is the national professional accountancy body in Bangladesh, established under the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973. It is the sole organization authorized to award the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) designation in the country.

    Key Functions and Responsibilities:

    • Professional Development: ICAB is responsible for establishing initial professional development and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for its members. The institute reports that its system mostly aligns with the requirements of the International Education Standards (IES); however, CPD requirements do not fully align. The institute has plans to incorporate the full requirements by March 2017.

    • Quality Assurance: Under the authority of the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973, ICAB has been responsible for establishing and maintaining a quality assurance (QA) review system of audit firms since 2008. The institute reports that its system is aligned with the requirements of the Statement of Membership Obligations (SMO) 1.

    • Standard Setting: Under the Bangladesh Chartered Accountants Order of 1973, the institute remains the de facto standard-setter in the country.

    • Ethical Requirements: ICAB is directly responsible for establishing ethical requirements for its members and has adopted the 2013 International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) Code of Ethics. The institute monitors new pronouncements by IESBA to ensure the Code is regularly updated and is reviewing the latest IESBA Code for adoption in the country.

    • Investigative and Disciplinary System: ICAB has created three separate independent Boards for Investigation, Discipline, and Appeals. The institute conducted an assessment of its investigative and disciplinary system against the requirements of SMO 6 and reports that it adopts most of the requirements, except that its Disciplinary Committee does not have non-accountants as members.

    Membership and Affiliations:

    ICAB has over 1,900 members and is a founding member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA), and the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA).
