The Directorate General of Food (DG Food) is a key government agency under the Ministry of Food, Bangladesh. Key Functions of the Directorate General of Food:

1. Food Procurement: DG Food is responsible for purchasing food grains, such as rice and wheat, both domestically and internationally, to build and maintain national food stocks. These stocks are used for various government-run food programs and emergency situations.

2. Storage and Distribution: The Directorate manages food storage facilities (silos, warehouses, etc.) across the country to ensure the safe storage of food grains.    • Vulnerable Group Development (VGD): Supporting poor and vulnerable women through the provision of food assistance and skill development.

5. Policy Implementation and Monitoring: DG Food plays an important role in implementing national food policies, monitoring food prices, and ensuring that the government’s food security objectives are met. It also collaborates with other national and international organizations to manage food crises and coordinate relief efforts during emergencies.
